Animal aid worker

Gezocht: dierenhulpverleners voor in de nacht

You take care of the animal in need

As an animal rescue worker, you provide (first) aid to animals in need on the ambulance.

Your duties include:

  • Providing first aid to animals in distress;
  • Stabilise injured animals;
  • Samen met je collega voor veilig transport zorgen; 
  • Provide aftercare for animals and any owners and bystanders.

You are going to learn things you thought you would never do. On the other hand, you are always allowed to state your limit. Safety comes first.

We ask

  • Min 21 years and education at min MBO level
  • Inzetbaarheid van min. 8 uur per week 
  • A commitment of min. one year
  • Good social and communication skills
  • Goede beheersing van de Nederlandse taal
  • Alleen voor de mensen die ná hun dierenhulpverlenerscursus ook de chauffeursopleiding willen doen: rijbewijs B
  • Day shift: 09:00 - 18:00
    (half shifts possible)
  • Evening service: 6pm - 11pm
  • Night shift: 23.00 - 09.00

Training

Wij bieden een intensieve opleiding. Zo bestaat het opleidingstraject uit ongeveer 20 cursusavonden, 15 inwerkdiensten en een zelfstudie van ongeveer 4 uur per week. Het duurt zo'n 5 maanden voordat je volledig bent opgeleid, dus bedenk vooraf goed of je hier tijd en ruimte voor hebt. 

  • Inwerken op ambulance (let op: dit is doordeweeks)
  • Introduction course via E-learning and practical lessons
  • Animal rescue course
  • Animal first aid course by vets from Dierenkliniek de Wetering
  • Further training

Wil je als dierenhulpverlener ook een ambulance gaan besturen, dan volg je na de dierenhulpverlenerscursus een aparte chauffeursopleiding. Elke chauffeur is dus ook als dierenhulpverlener opgeleid. 

Night shifts are particularly challenging: there is a certain calmness about the city, you mainly drive emergency trips and there are no traffic jams at night. In fact, the city is yours for a while at night.
